Ammonia Cracker to Hydrogen PSA Plant
PSG Engineering Co- ( Hapur ) Ammonia Cracker PSA Hydrogen Gas Plant converts liquid or
gaseous ammonia (NH₃) into high-purity hydrogen (H₂).
In the first stage, the ammonia cracker heats ammonia over a nickel catalyst to break it down into
a mixture of 75% hydrogen and 25% nitrogen.
This cracked gas is cooled and conditioned, then fed into a PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption)
unit, which removes nitrogen and impurities to produce high-purity hydrogen gas suitable for
industrial applications such as heat treatment, electronics, and chemical processing.
Working Principle: –
From the PSG Engineering Company ammonia cracker to the PSA hydrogen plant, ammonia
from storage is heated in a furnace (850–950°C) to thermally crack it into hydrogen and nitrogen.
The cracked gas is cooled and cleaned before being fed into the PSA unit, where hydrogen is
separated from nitrogen and impurities using molecular sieves. The result is dry, high-purity
hydrogen, ready for industrial uses such as metal treatment, chemicals, and fuel cells.
